rocket undies

Ooo,

Quick post.

Here's a drawing from an epic ALL-DAY meeting I was in yesterday.  I'm designing these for my friend Dan when I make it to fashion school.

Tempting Tempeh

Recently,  I was telling Barton how much I love tempeh.  She is generally soy-free but enjoys the occasional coffee spruce-up with some soy milk.  I suggested she try tempeh.  It's easier to digest than other soy products because it's fermented.  And having a bit of soy is really good for women (especially around our "lady time.")

But you don't have to take me word for it, see wikipedia's entry:

"Like tofu, tempeh is made from soybeans, but tempeh is a whole soybean product with different nutritional characteristics and textural qualities.  Tempeh's fermentation process and its retention of the whole bean give it a higher content of protein, dietary fiber and vitamins compared to tofu, as well as firmer texture and stronger flavor."

I also found this really bitchin' post on I Am Gluten Free with a great recipe for Tempeh Sausage.  Check it out.

Three cheers for tempeh!

Love you, mean it

Walk About with Lettuce in my Hair

I often get my inspiration for fashion from art.  A current fav is Kris Chau.  She draws darling little dames who blow bubbles, play with bunnies, ride bikes and play in pretty dresses.  Which Barton & I would agree, is pretty much the best way to spend your time.  She is SUPER sweet too.  I sent her a pleading email to recreate a print of hers which she did even though it was discontinued.  PLUS she sent me some extra goodies :)  I love this painting for fashion inspiration in particular - it makes me want to walk about with lettuce in my hair:

That's it for now.

Countdown to New York fashion week!

It's in 17 days! ALTHOUGH! A bunch of people aren't showing
this year at Bryant Park (i.e. Donna Karen, Calvin Klein & Ralph
Lauren)!?!  They are apparently having separate small-scale private showings.
ALSO, it's a good thing we didn't win the fashion week contest cause
Umm, Marc Jacobs canceled his party!?!  Yipes! THAT is something to
put into a fashion blog.

Love you, mean it.

(Marc Jacobs picture borrowed from Bones and Stars blog.
One of my fav's.)
