Spidey

If you live in New York City you may also want to check this out.

Currently at American Museum of Natural History they are exhibiting a giant rug. Why is this rug so special you ask? Oh, because it's made from spider silk!


That's right ladies and gentlemen more than a million (not so little) female Golden Orb spiders graciously donated their silk for this textile. French Missionary, Jacob Paul Camboué created a hand-driven machine that would accommodate 24 spiders at once. It withdrew 2.4 lbs. of spider silk without harming a single little lady (aww).


It took over 4 years, 12 people and over a million spiders to produce this rug.

Check this thing out while it's still there - it's pretty amazing.
