Orchids, Panthers and Page - Oh my!
Givenchy's F/W 11 show mos def had a theme, but I don't know if it was kitties (as said by the Cut)?  Loads of sensual black layers were printed with panthers and orchids with the occasional splash of a censored Betty Page.  Begging the question - are they maybe referring to another kind of cat?

Bondage A-Go-Go

All things bondage, leather, cut-out and studded seem to be making their way into Fall fashions. You may recall the obvies connections that CAG made from a while back. Here are some hand-picked looks for the tough gals of autumn:

This look is bondagey while still maintaining its sweetness. This shirred-sleeve dress by Givenchy is worn by San Francisco's own Vanessa Traina and borrowed from a blog called Rackk and Ruin.

For a similar look to fit the budget try this H&M jumper with the straps crossed frontwards instead of backwards.

Lastly, I would like to mention a little lady named Kimberly Ovitz, who has been tragically vacant from this blog as-of-yet. Kimberly enjoys the simple pleasures in life. Namely, black and white ensembles.

Kimberly is a minimalist from LA whose line carries accolades from names like Chlöe Sevigny, Alexis Bledel, Olivia Wilde and Elle magazine to name a few. She's also younger than me - bitch. This perfect fall cut-out dress named "Maxine" is available on shopbop. It belongs to Ovitz's Fall 09 collection which you can check out here.

"One Word: Plastics."

The term "plastic sandals" conjures up images of sweaty childhood feet stuffed into "jellies."  Namely for me.  When I think plastic sandals, I think gross.

The July issue of Vogue features some anything BUT child-like plastic Givenchy Sandals.

  

Givenchy head designer, Riccardo Tisci says "I wanted this shoe to be more accessible in terms of price and practicality" (July 2009 Vogue).  These shoes are comfortable (according to Vogue) and range from about $163 - $170.  Plus they come in a variety of bright-ass summer show stopping colors:

But we don't have to stop there.  Here are a handful of summer sandals that are easy on the budget (around $100) and don't hurt animals (all VEGAN).

These sandals sold on Tobi are called the Melissa Mystery Gladiator Sandals and are only $71.

White Studded Sandals my the British Miss Selfridge are £28.

Capucci Not Gucci

I was rummaging through my local thrift store this morning aka the lost and found, and I found a frigging Roberto Capucci scarf?!  (Thanks April!)  It's smelled like someone took a bath in Chanel No. 5 (that stuff smells like grandma).  But who cares?  Italian Couture!

For those of you asking umm, who is Roberto Capucci?  Well, I'm glad you asked!

Roberto Capucci is an Italian couturier, sometimes known as the "the Givenchy of Rome."  Capucci was born in Rome in 1929.  He established his own fashion house in Italy in 1950 and opened a couture salon in Paris in 1962 (Wikipedia).

He basically bailed from the fashion world in 1980 - making a few things here and there for select clients.  His last collection (I could find record of) was in 2001 in Paris.
